On Feastday, Eorgaen for the Conclave Lady Rohese guided a crowd through the meditation process and also discussed Lumnis.

Documented below:

[Elanthian Conclave, Meditation]
In contrast to the other rooms in the building, this space is small and intimate.  Soft and slightly yielding underfoot, the sand-covered floor has been scattered with woven meditation mats and low tables set with candles and incense burners.  The center of the room features a gently cascading water fountain surrounded by fragrant herbs and flowering shrubs, while taller bamboo plants in terracotta pots line the smooth stone walls.  You also see a raffle counter with some stuff on it.

Rohese softly asks, "I hope you've all remembered to enter the raffle for a lovely Lumnis blade?"

Rohese purses her mouth, pondering a raffle counter.  The expression on her face speaks volumes.

Rohese softly says, "We should probably get started then so the drawing doesn't disturb our meditative practice."

Rohese smiles.

Rohese softly says, "So Lumnis."

Rohese softly says, "Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge."

Rohese softly repeats, "Lumnis, Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge."

Rohese softly says, "Her guidance is often sought and she gives counsel willingly but will never give an answer outright."

Rohese smiles.

Rohese softly says, "A typical woman, I hear you say."

Rohese softly says, "She prefers to advise and guide, allowing those who seek aid to find the answer on their own."

Rohese softly says, "We often struggle to find those answers, however, because we all live such busy lives."

Rohese softly says, "We seem to spend a lot of our time just running from place to place with endless tasks to complete."

Rohese softly says, "Our minds are often muddled, our bodies tired, and our spirits low."

Rohese softly says, "And we would all benefit from taking time out to rest or meditate."

Rohese softly says, "The benefits of meditation are numerous but any focused relaxation technique will help you feel more centered and hopefully help you find the answers you've been seeking."

Rohese smiles.

As Minniemae moves to settle herself on the meditation mat she adopts a calm demeanor in preparation for spending some time in contemplation.

Rohese softly says, "If you'd like to learn more about such practices, please gather close and JOIN me."

Vidos says, "I feel as if my spirit is bolstered already."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "I'll suggest some roleplay verbs you can use as we go along."

Rohese softly says, "The key thing to learn is how to breathe properly."

You nod at Rohese.

Rohese softly says, "Stand up straight."

Rohese softly says, "Now take a deep breath in, hold it for a moment, and then let it go."

Vidos stretches an arm skyward, closes his eyes, and serenity seems to settle over him.

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "BREATHE, BREATHE HOLD and EXHALE."

*As instructed by Rohese the group breathes, then holds it only for a few seconds then exhales. Some even repeat the process to further the experience*

Rohese softly says, "Now let's take a seat and settle ourselves with a calming breath."

Eruheran says, "I was so calm it was like I floated away...."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "SIT MAT.  Then BREATHE SLOW."

As you move to get settled on the meditation mat you calm and center yourself, preparing to spend some time in contemplation.

You breathe very slowly and deliberately, calming yourself.

Rohese softly says, "Try to focus on each breathe you make.  Make it steady and quiet, concentrating on the exhale to quieten the mind."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "BREATHE QUIET and BREATHE OUT.  Then, when you're ready to continue, try BREATHE MAT.  No rush!"

You breathe as quietly as you can.

You let out a long, contemplative breath.

You close your eyes and slow your breathing, inhaling and exhaling at disciplined intervals as you gradually sink into a meditative trance.

Rohese softly says, "Meditation is a delightfully simple practice, but that doesn't mean it's easy."

Rohese softly says, "Do not expect to experience enlightenment on your first attempt."

Rohese softly says, "First, just try and sit."

Rohese softly says, "Commit to doing nothing more than sitting quietly and watching what happens."

Rohese softly says, "Adopt a comfortable position."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "Try STEEPLE, STEEPLE GOOD or FOLD HANDS."

Minniemae steeples her fingers in her lap, quietly observing her surroundings.

With a serene smile, you lace your fingers together in quiet repose.

Rohese softly says, "Don't be drawn into conversations, don't add another item to your to-do list, and don't worry about what other people are doing."

Eruheran folds his hands in his lap.

Rohese softly says, "Just sit and observe the thoughts that arise and pass through your mind."

Rohese softly says, "You will likely be surprised by how difficult it is to sit quietly for a few minutes."

Rohese smiles.

Rohese softly says, "In the process, though, you may learn something important about the qualities of the restless mind and the ever-changing nature of life."

(Chira murmurs whisper quiet almost to herself, something about husbands and kids playing with scarabs.)

Chira begins to twitch.

Chira closes her eyes and slows her breathing, inhaling and exhaling at disciplined intervals as she gradually sinks into a meditative trance.

Rohese smiles quietly to herself.

Rohese softly says, "Listen to the sounds of life."

Rohese softly says, "Close your eyes and tune in to the sounds percolating both within and around you."

Rohese closes her eyes for a moment.

Rohese softly says, "Open your ears and adopt a receptive attitude."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "BLINK <self> and LISTEN."

Vidos closes his eyes for a moment.

Vidos inclines his ear, listening intently.

Haedahl closes her eyes for a moment.

Rohese softly says, "At first, you'll likely hear only the most obvious noises like the water in the fountain, but over time, you'll discover new layers of sounds that you had previously tuned out."

Rohese softly says, "Challenge yourself to observe what you hear without clinging to it or resisting it."

Rohese softly says, "Remember to breathe."

Rohese softly says, "Notice how the world feels more alive as your awareness of the present deepens."

Rohese softly says, "Practice bare attention."

Rohese softly explains, "Notice the raw sensations of the present moment."

Rohese softly continues, "Feelings of warmth and coolness, hardness and softness, pressure and ease."

Rohese softly says, "Do you smell the herbs, flowers, and incense."

Rohese softly asks, "How does the mat feel?"

Rohese softly asks, "How does your experience change over time?"

Rohese softly says, "Cultivating an awareness of the present moment will foster a more serene and attentive mind, one that is able to settle into the here and now."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "As a personal aside, I always try and encourage people to read the room descriptions.  Find one that appeals to you and use it in your meditative roleplay!"

Rohese softly says, "Follow the breath."

Rohese takes a deep breath.

Rohese softly says, "Attach your mind to it."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "A reminder that BREATHE HELP gives you a list of all the options available."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "For now, try just BREATHE and BREATHE OUT or BREATHE SLOW.  There's also FAST, BORED or LOUD if you wish to express other opinions about this whole process or event."

Rohese softly says, "While you're breathing in, note that you're breathing in, and while you're breathing out, focus on the exhalation."

Rohese softly says, "Don't manipulate the breath in any way; simply watch it with your mind's eye, just as you would follow the lapping waves on a beach."

Rohese softly says, "If you find that your mind has strayed, as it inevitably will, gently refocus it on the breath and begin again."

Rohese softly suggests, "Perhaps use a mantra."

Rohese softly says, "Choose a favorite word, phrase, prayer, or fragment of a poem, and repeat it slowly and softly."

Rohese reverently says, "Lumnis guide me; temper my knowledge with wisdom."

Rohese softly says, "Let its rhythm and meaning lull you into a quiet, contemplative state of ease."

Rohese reverently repeats, "Lumnis guide me; temper my knowledge with wisdom."

Rohese passes the beads of her chalcedony crystals through her fingers, one at a time, in a well-practiced gesture.

Rohese softly says, "When you notice that your mind has wandered off to other thoughts, simply redirect it back toward the words you've chosen as your touchstone and rededicate your awareness to them."

Rohese softly says, "Think of your mantra and try it for yourself."

Rohese reverently says, "Lumnis guide me; temper my knowledge with wisdom."

Rohese reverently says, "Lumnis guide me; temper my knowledge with wisdom."

Rohese softly says, "It is only by cultivating an awareness of our own mindfulness, that we can naturally achieve a greater insight into the world around us."

Rohese softly says, "Open your mind and heart to the possibility of enlightenment."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "To portray being deep in thought try using THINK TO <self>, OBSERVE <self>, PONDER <self>, or WISH."

Rohese softly says, "Welcome in the wisdom and intuition of Lumnis."

Rohese softly says, "Invite her to advise and guide you."

Rohese softly says, "Finally, embrace your good fortune and practice kindness."

Rohese softly says, "As you sit quietly, focus your inner attention on someone you know who might benefit from the same wisdom, kindness, or care."

Rohese softly says, "In your mind's eye, send this person love, happiness, and well-being."

Rohese softly says, "Or all of them."

Rohese softly says, "When you're ready, you can open your eyes."

Rohese softly says, "Take a deep breathe and stand in your own time."

Rohese softly says, "Stretch your muscles."

(OOC) Rohese's player whispers to the group, "STRETCH UP or to the LEFT or RIGHT."

Rohese softly concludes, "Now smile, you have begun a journey to mindfulness and enlightenment."
