Sentinel Zailon looks distracted, before snapping out of his daydream, turning to face you, suddenly aware of your presence.
Zailon says, “Sorry, right. I grew distracted. Well, I met Elder Sentinel Advisor Dirvy years back, you see, I stumbled into
Icemule, wounded and without any herbs left.”
Zailon says, “Right, nevermind. That isn’t what you’re asking about, is it? Another time, I suppose. Tales of First Loves, yes? I remember it well, a very important day for me. Let me paint the story for you.”
Zailon makes a gesture for you to sit down, as he recants the story.
You follow the group down a pathway, ending in the courtyard of the famous Silvergate Inn and take note of a small gathering already in progress. You make your way towards the back, so as not to disrupt the stories in progress.
You note Sentinel Zailon Scampering back from a nearby cart, clutching a slice of watermelon, with a mischievous grin on his face. You decide not to point it out, after all, it’s only watermelon.
Turning from your distraction you note a couple holding hands, coming down the walkway, the leaves swirling behind them with a sense of playfulness, almost escorting the happy couple down into the Inn.
Prophet Rovvigen steps up and begins his announcement, “Today, we host Tales of First loves. We will be discussing the people we’ve met along our long journey, and remembering fondly those who stand out among the rest. “
Sentinel Zailon steps up in front of the gathering and looks toward Dirvy, clearly a man besotted, he begins, “We met some time ago, back in Icemule. I remember I was headed for the rift.”
“Much to my surprise, the town had acquired an Empath; unheard of for quite some time.”
Zailon smiles at Dirvy, “It was a relief to know I could come back from the rift and find healing again, rather than seeking out every herb in existence. And through time, I found not only a healer, but a friend. For a number of years, that’s all there was to it. I was too blind to see what was so plain to everyone else.”
Zailon continues, “After years of indecision, or simple foolishness, I woke up enough to see what was before me, and thankfully, she didn’t turn me away. “
Zailon turns to Dirvy and says, “Thank you for coming on this journey with me.”
Dirvy responds, “How could I have ever said no to you?”
Zailon passes Dirvy a shimmering silk gift cloth.
Dirvy asks, “Shall I open this now?”
Zailon nods to Dirvy.
Dirvy opened the gift cloth and within she found Zailon’s onyx neckchain bearing a glowing pentagram.”
Dirvy responds, “But this is your favorite!”
And without hesitation Zailon replied, “You are my favorite. I wanted you to have something of importance from me.”
Dirvy softly replied, “I have you, what could be more important?”
And with that Dirvy and Zailon kissed, sealing the event, a public acknowledgement of what was to come. Stories were shared, and hearts were touched and this led us down the path to a wedding on a grand scale, but that is a story for another day.
Prophet Rovvigen stepped before the crowd, prepared to tell his tale of love
Rovvigen says, “This is the story of how Beloran and I got married.”
Rovvigen begins his tale, “Beloran and I met a year and a half ago, in Wehnimer’s Landing. I noticed his vibrant green wings, causing him to stand out from the crowd. It was love at first sight. He gave me a tour of the landing, and we ended up at this beautiful little café.”
Rovvigen gazes outward, lost in memory, “That night be took me on a picnic amongst the stars and told me to make a wish. I made my wish and he asked me what I had wished for, and I could only reply, if I tell you, then it won’t come true.”
Smiling to himself, Rovvigen continues to address the crowd.
Rovvigen says, “That night, I had wished we would have a beautiful wedding, and as of last year we were married, holding two ceremonies to celebrate our nuptials. “
Rovvigen remembers, “Our first time was at the Trine Festival, we held a handfasting after the Halfling tradition, tying a cord about our wrists to show our eternal bond. Our second ceremony was held at the Ice Caverns. “
Zailon leans against Dirvy, listening to Rovvigen’s tale of love found. Nodding quietly to himself, you note that he has donned a rather ostentatious feathered hat and he is now walking with a cane. You begin wonder about his wardrobe choices and find that his story is winding down.
Zailon resumes his focus, “And that is the Tale of First Loves. Dirvy and I couldn’t have gotten a proper start if not for Prophet Rovvigen. We owe him much for that day.”
Zailon nods in acknowledgement and gazes out, resuming his watch over the caravan as you proceed to your next destination.
